چکیده

The SHARPE package is now 1 3 y ears old. A w ell known package in the eld of reliability and performability, SHARPE is used in universities as well as in companies. Many important c hanges have been made during these years to improve the satisfaction of our users. Recently several new algorithms have been added and a Graphical User Interface has been implemented. This paper presents the current status of the tool.

Multiprocessor Performability Analysis

Conclusions Performability models of multiprocessor systems and their evaluation are presented. Two cases in which hierarchical modeling is applied are examined. 1. Models are developed to analyze the behavior of processor arrays of various sizes in the presence of permanent, transient, intermittent, and near-coincident faults. Models can be generated for typical reconfiguration schemes that co...

SHARPE 2002: Symbolic Hierarchical Automated Reliability and Performance Evaluator

SHARPE is a well known package in the field of reliability and performability, used in universities as well as in companies. A modeler who is familiar with many different kinds of models, can easily choose models that best suit a particular system and the kind of measure that is needed at each stage of the design. It is also possible to use different kinds of models hierarchically for different...

An Analytical Approach to Architecture-Based Software Reliability Prediction

Prevalent approaches to software reliability modeling are black-box based, i.e., the the software system is treated as a monolithic entity and only its interactions with the outside world are modeled. However, with the advancement and widespread use of object oriented systems design and web-based development, the use of component-based software development is on the rise. Software systems are b...

Stochastic Modeling Formalisms for Dependability, Performance and Performability

In this chapter, we discuss practical issues regarding analytical modeling of complex computer systems. We compare diierent model types in terms of their strengths and weaknesses for model construction, eeciency and accuracy of solution algorithms and the desired performance measures. The basic concepts of performance, dependability and performability modeling are introduced using the example o...

Effects of failure correlation on software in operation

Since the early 1970’s a number of models have been proposed for estimating software reliability. However, the realism of many of the underlying assumptions and the applicability of these models continue to be questioned. Our research work was motivated by the fact that although there are practical situations in which the assumption of independence among successive software failures could be ea...
